Lineage

General Kwan

Yun-ch'ang or Guan Yu, known to us also as General Kwan, become blood brother to Liu Bei and Zhang Fei as described in the Chinese literary classic Romance of Three Kingdoms. These three men came together in the Peach Garden and swore an allegiance to each other. They agreed to work towards restoring the Han family to power after a rebellion shattered control of the country into harsh fiefdoms. General Kwan, born in 160 AD, was a fearless warrior and strategist, a master swordsman, a protector of the people, and a steadfast friend to his blood brothers. By honoring the memory of General Kwan we recognize the importance of strength, dedication, honesty, loyalty, and patriotism in our training and lives.
